Stop Calling Suspected Killers “Nice Guys”: The Media Has To Do Better In Its Reporting Of Violence Against Women

When a man is arrested on suspicion of murdering three women and media headlines describe him as a “nice, normal guy”, it’s clear our society has a serious problem. We live in a country where, every week, a woman is murdered by a partner or ex-partner, often in their own homes. These killings don’t come out of the blue; they are a pervasive public health problem. So why does the media behave as though it’s been blindsided every time?
