There’s a community narrative out there that violence is random, (that) it’s unpredictable,” Ruse said. The fact that there are predictive factors to violence should offer hope, Ruse says.
“If there are predictive factors, that means we can intervene.”
Ruse emphasizes that calls for increased support for perpetrators will not detract from continued support services offered for victims and survivors of abuse, and ultimately serve to make women safer.
