London program for domestic violence survivors expands to rural areas
Nurses can help women manage chronic illness or pain, mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and others, along with helping them find housing, child care, build a resume and a positive social network to move forward in their lives.
Those who have used the program in London have reported improvements in their health and sense of self, according to Leanne Field, a public health nurse at MLHU.
“I’ve seen women build positive coping skills, improve sleep practices and healthy eating habits,” said Field. “The expansion of the program will allow us to offer even more support in a timely manner and reach more women in our community.”
