Alternatives for Women In Prince Edward County

Alternatives for Women Housing Options

Our housing objective at Alternatives for Women is to provide those in need, safe and affordable housing where available.

Our housing service goals are to:

1. Assist with immediate, temporary and emergency shelter.

2. Help establish residence at our Second Stage Housing program known as “Kiosan”

Our Second Stage Housing program, Kiosan is on a one year maximum contract. In that time frame, Alternatives for Women will work with the client to help them meet their goals to live an independent life, free from violence.

Second Stage Housing

Second Stage Housing in Prince Edward County offers safe and secure locations that are managed and supervised by Alternatives for Women. We provide accommodations for women and their children, who are leaving or have recently left an abusive relationship.

Once a resident of our housing program, we ask that person to commit to living in a violence-free, co-operative environment. One that requires the resident to participate in our “Alternative for Women” counseling program.

Our accommodations include one and two bedroom apartment units, and a three bedroom house. Each unit is unfurnished but does include a fridge and stove. Plus, there are on-site laundry facilities for “resident only” uses. Our rents are income-geared, with utilities included.
